{"id":4520,"date":"2011-09-16T12:00:03","date_gmt":"2011-09-16T19:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ryskamp.org\/brain\/?p=4520"},"modified":"2012-06-13T17:18:10","modified_gmt":"2012-06-13T17:18:10","slug":"a-bike-birthday-ride-from-andermatt-to-interlaken","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bob.ryskamp.org\/brain\/a-bike-birthday-ride-from-andermatt-to-interlaken\/","title":{"rendered":"A bike birthday ride from Andermatt to Interlaken"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My favorite web service, [the Photojojo Flickr Time Capsule](http:\/\/photojojo.com\/timecapsule\/), just reminded me that it&#8217;s been a year since [I received and set up my Trek Madone road bike](http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bobman\/5009452590\/)&#8211;the third frame replacement from [a 2005 Lemond Versailles original](http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bobman\/21307347\/).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bobman\/5009452590\/\" title=\"New bike by bob, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4111\/5009452590_079fa8bb68_z.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" alt=\"New bike\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"><\/a><br \/>\n<i>(a year ago; I&#8217;ve already replaced the saddle, rear wheel, and cranks)<\/i><\/p>\n<p>My bike is basically a [Ship of Theseus](http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ship_of_Theseus) at this point (thanks [Blindsight](http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blindsight_(science_fiction_novel)) for the reference), having had almost every piece of the original replaced to make up its current form (seatpost, derailleurs, and brake calipers remain). Still, it&#8217;s my bike and I love it.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate (doesn&#8217;t everyone celebrate bicycle birthdays?), I took the day off and rode with a friend from Andermatt to Interlaken. My GPS failed me so you&#8217;ll have to trust I rode [this route](http:\/\/app.strava.com\/rides\/1633026), albeit climbing a bit slower.
